Your support will help

Westmoreland County Blind Association
improve the quality of life of the blind and visually impaired.

Does your money make a difference?

Consider the following-

• Early vision screenings for children aged three to five can detect problems before they become more serious, maybe even untreatable. Amblyopia or lazy eye is the leading cause of monocular blindness in children. Sadly, as many as half of all children are diagnosed after age five when treatment may no longer be effective.

• Detecting vision problems early when a child’s vision is developing can have a dramatic impact on the rest of his or her life, saving him or her from serious learning and reading problems in school and at home.

Our screeners can help identify early vision problems and alert parents or caregivers so their child can get prompt, proper care.

I understand this is a big request. We’re going though economic times. Frankly, most of us have fewer dollars to spare. That’s why you want to spend your dollars wisely, where they have a real and tangible impact. By contributing to the Westmorland County Blind Association, you not only help employ your neighbors with vision loss, you bring critical and timely services to the kids in your community.

Thank you again for your kind generosity.

Best regards,
Lawrence J. Helkowski, President & CEO

P.S.  Did you know that vision problems are one of the most common disabilities among children?
Early detection can prevent permanent vision loss.
